'The Mercy foundation is dedicated to the awareness of
the plight of the underprivileged
in the Caribbean providing opportunities in education, training, health and
upliftment
of the human spirit. In keeping with the principles of the Living Water
Community
and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG's) to eradicate
poverty,
the Foundation seeks to solidify the commitment of corporations and benefactors
in fulfilling this mandate with action and integrity.'

On Thursday, May 24, 2007, Living Water Community launched the Mercy Foundation in conjunction with a corporate partner, Nigel G Salina & Associates Ltd (NGSA), a reputable Caribbean-based financial advisor and agent for one of the region’s premier financial groups. Nigel understands the plight of the poor through his extensive work and lived experience, as a volunteer with LWC for over seven years.
The Foundation creates a formal arm of Living Water Community for the negotiation and distribution of funds for its Caribbean-wide outreach programme, which comprises eleven (11) ministries that are dedicated to alleviating the plight of the poor, to education and healthcare for the terminally ill. As a registered, non-profit, charitable organization, corporate citizens wishing to assist the Mercy Foundation can benefit from tax relief while providing much needed funds to assist in the work of the Caribbean missions.
Working in
islands devastated by hurricanes, like Grenada and St Maarten and the pending
disaster of volcanic eruption in
Montserrat, it was evident that regional outreach on a level never experienced
before in the Caribbean region would be needed to meet the added challenges of
disaster preparedness by underprivileged communities, the homeless, the aged and
physically disabled.
The needs are diverse as they are challenging; largely due to the remote location and undocumented needs of many. Communities within the island chain suffer from lack of basic human necessities, including food, clothing and shelter. Some of these have no access to basic life amenities such as water, electricity and solid waste disposal. In addition, critical social ills including drug, alcohol and child abuse and the HIV/AIDS pandemic have threatened the fabric of small societies on some of these most scenic and beautiful of God's treasures on earth.
The Mission of the Mercy Foundation is to bring a stream of Living Water to serve as an oasis within the diaspora, touching lives and living standards and uplifting the human spirit where it is most needed.
The core objectives of the Mercy Foundation's mission are to:
Embrace
the goals of the LWC while facilitating the allocation and transfer of funds
in order to alleviate the plight of the underprivileged throughout the
Caribbean region.
Assist
NGO's and CBO's throughout the region helping them to realize their specific
social missions in health, education, literacy and poverty alleviation on a
sustained basis.
Partner with organizations and donors worldwide to identify the needs and effect lasting change in the lives of the Caribbean peoples, particularly those who have experienced the effects of natural disaster.
The Mercy Foundation's Code of Ethics is dedicated to this mission, steeped in faith, goodwill and the sacredness of each and every life, the value of all individuals and the right of human-kind to dignity.
In its conduct of business, the Mercy Foundation is committed to a path of honesty, responsibility and prudence in all its undertakings.
“Through our actions, we shall share compassion and caring for all.”
